Chapter Four: No Jesus – Cheryl Bear

CHAPTER FOUR: NO JESUS

Brokenness meets brokenness…

you brush past those who are well
and rush to those who are sick and weak
…like me
you see my open, befouled wounds
but do not flinch or look away
you seem to know how they got there…
where they came from…
…who they came from
and you have good medicine
to make me whole again
so I’m not merely a misplaced soul
pushing my shadow around
yes, I am wounded but
you are the Healer
Man of Sorrows
rescue me
from my self
my thoughts
this deep depression
and my stifling fear
everything seems hollow, shallow
but from you I drink deep
Man of Sorrows
rescue me
