CHAPTER TWO: LEFT HAND
To the One who keeps us from falling
To the One who picks us up again
To the One who stands on the bottom with us and tells us that it is solid
A breath of gut-tumbling, revolted, fearful thanks.
It will not sound like thanks, but you will interpret for me.
And maybe even tomorrow morning I will feel a little bit of comfort
Or maybe I will be able to relax a bit
Or maybe I will not be consumed by biting back.
Maybe I will open a window.
Maybe the Son will come in.
Judy and Pierre Allard have been involved in prison ministry for 35 years. When Pierre retired in 2006 from the Correctional Service of Canada as an Assistant Commissioner, Judy and Pierre founded Just.Equipping. This is an organization committed to educating, training and equipping in prison chaplaincy and restorative justice. At the present time, they are working primarily in Rwanda, Burundi and RDCongo with prison and justice workers.
